Project Summary ReportThe Project Summary Report displays a brief statistical summary of the types and numbers of documents and links scanned together with their status. Use this report to display an overview of the last scan with summary management information. Hyperlinks are provided so the user may drill-down to view more details. |
The report is organized in several sections:
Summary of Objects Tested and Errors Found
Note the use of the following terms:
Documents: A document is a file (or script) that LinkScan examined for hyperlinks. Typically, an HTML document or reference to a server script.
Other Files: Includes hyperlinks to other files whose content was not examined for other embedded hyperlinks. Typically, images such as .gif and .jpg files or other binary or multimedia file types.
Anchors: Hyperlinks to a NAME reference within a document. i.e. links of the form <A HREF="document.html#Anchor">. When LinkScan encounters links of this type, it checks for the presence of a corresponding <A NAME="Anchor"> tag.
Internal Links: Links that point to the current website.
External Links: Links that point to other websites.
Broken Links: Broken links contain serious errors that require immediate attention.
Suspect Links: A suspect link may or may not contain an error. This includes links that failed during the scan perhaps due to temporary network and/or server problems. Also links that may be unsafe; they may appear to function under some circumstances but fail in others.
Total Links: The values of these counters are calculated including multiple references to the same destination URL.
Unique Links: The values of these counters are calculated using only the first reference to each unique destination URL.
Weighted Errors: An overall measure of site quality calculated using weighted scores normalized according to the size of the site in documents.
Summary of Internal Errors Found by Type
This section of the report tabulates the number of links by the link status for the the Internal Links.
Summary of External Errors Found by Type
This section of the report tabulates the number of links by the link status for the the External Links.
Summary by Owner
Only when All Owners is selected, this report includes two additional per-owner tables. These provide some summary statistics for each Owner within the Project. Also, drill-down hyperlinks are provided to Project Summary Reports for each individual Owner.
