MailVet Application Description

Electronic Software Publishing Corp. (Elsop) has developed a new technology that will enable us to offer an e-mail address verification service. We are trying to determine the level of interest in organizations to use this new capability and we would appreciate your input and that of your associates involved in processing email addresses. First I would like to provide you a basic description of the application and than the possible needs in your group that our application may satisfy. Then I would like to pose some specific questions to gather your input.

The Application

The application will be called MailVet.
From the Random House Webster's Dictionary, the word "vet" is defined as "to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity" which is exactly what MailVet does.

Our MailVet software can verify with a high degree of accuracy that an e-mail address will or will not bounce when sent. MailVet does this without sending mail. A small percent of the time, MailVet will say an address is good, but mail to that address will bounce. That is because MailVet can determine that the mail will be accepted by the server, but it is later processed and rejected. This is similar to mail being put into your real life USPS mail box where you later determine it's not for you and you mark it return to sender and give it to the mailman. MailVet is not a simple syntax checker. It actually verifies that the server will not bounce the e-mail. MailVet can do this at a very high rate of speed: verifying over 10,000 emails per hour. The Services and/or Products

We contemplate offering this MailVet service in several ways.

1. Batch Verification

   We will process batch files of e-mail addresses and let our customer know which ones are good, bad or "don't know". This will allow the customer to clean up existing databases of email addresses. We will charge some fee yet to be determined for the number of e-mail addresses processed.

2. Realtime Interactive Verification

   We will offer a realtime interactive service that will verify an e-mail address on demand. The customer will be able to query our computer over the internet and receive immediate verification of the e-mail address. This will enable our user to notify the person entering an e-mail address into their form that the address is not correct and asked them to enter a correct address.

3. Software Package

   We will offer a software package that you will install on your server.

The benefits of MailVet

It is very difficult to handle rejected or bounced mail. This batch service will remove all e-mail addresses causing this problem. The benefit will be to eliminate the unnecessary processing of the bad addresses which will reduce the use of bandwidth that those use.

Realtime verification prevents bad e-mail addresses from getting into your files in the first place, but more importantly, it enables you to get the correct information from your visitor while they are still on your site using your form.The key benefit is it enables you to get the sale, the newsletter subscriber, or the subscriber to a service before they are lost as soon as they leave your form. Anybody selling a service or product or offering a registration for subscribing to something will increase their revenues by using this service.
