It's a Virus!

My users have a bad habit of hollering problems at me just as I've arrived to work and before I've even gotten my coat off or had a chance to read my email.

This past morning, Secretary #19503 dashes into my office before I've sat down (but after I've got my coat off) and gasps, "My computer is acting all funny! I can't do anything - there are blank lines all across the screen and it seems to be hung in Excel." (She has some bland PC-thing) Before she left, her last proclamation was, "It's a virus!"

With the most sincere tone I could muster, I promised her I'd be right over to look at it. To my credit, it only took me four or five minutes to leave my office and cross the hallway into hers. Indeed, her computer was hung in Excel. Why? Her space bar key was stuck/jammed. Why? Her wrist rest, a metal dealie with a plate that goes under the keyboard and a J-shaped hook that forms the rest, had wedged over the bottom edge of the keyboard, onto the space bar, and was holding it down.

[Yep! Virus]
